Vindolanda

A Roman fort whose exposed remains date mainly from the 4th century. Nearby is a splendid civilian settlement with excavated inn, bathhouse and dwellings. The site museum contains a wealth of information and artefacts including many recent finds. It is open daily and is situated between the A69 and B6318 roads, 1 1/2 miles north of Bardon Mill.
