Elsdon

At Elsdon, 3 miles east of Otterburn, there is an excellent 14th century pele tower which is still lived in and can be visited by arrangement. Elsdon Church is also worth a visit and it was to here that some of the fallen at the Battle of Otterburn were brought for burial. To the north east of the village the earthworks of an exceptionally good example of a Norman motte and bailey can be seen. Elsdon is signposted from the A696 road.
